William O. Byars

Will Byars is currently co-owner of approximately 3,000 apartment units throughout Alabama and the Southeast and has bought, renovated, and sold over 25,000 units since 2005. In that time, he has been responsible for arranging financing, property management and asset management of the portfolio..

Byars began his career as an underwriter for multifamily projects with Collateral Mortgage Capital in 2000.  From there, he was a commercial real estate lender with NBC Bank, the predecessor of RBC Bank.  He has been involved in over $500MM worth of transactions and is currently a CCIM candidate having completed all the courses necessary for the designation.

Byars is a graduate of the University of the South (Sewanee) (1995) and University of Alabama at Birmingham’s MBA program (2001).

Will lives in Birmingham with his wife and 3 daughters.

W. Spencer South

Spencer’s background is in money management, private equity, and industrial and multifamily real estate investment/ development.

Along with a partner, Hewes T. Hull, Spencer founded a private equity firm, Lazarus Capital Partners, in 2003 and raised a limited partner fund focused on distressed middle market manufacturers, industrial service providers and value-added distributors. After several successful portfolio company exits in Fund I, a second larger fund was raised in 2010, which has since successfully exited all portfolio companies.

Recognizing a supply/demand dislocation in the workforce housing sector of the multifamily market, Spencer and Will Byars joined forces in 2020 to build a company to target these opportunities.

Spencer attended Hampden-Sydney College, is a graduate of the University of Alabama and is a Harvard Business School alumnus.

Spencer is married and has a daughter and a son.  He loves traveling with his family and all things outdoors.
